How can energy and costs in process cooling be reduced?
The answer is: with freecooling!
A recooler provides for the recooling of cooling water at suitably low outside temperatures without the use of an energy-intensive refrigeration compressor. By combining a compact chiller with a recooler, energy costs can be reduced by approx. 60-70% over the course of a year. The compressors of the compact cooler need to run less frequently, due to freecooling; therefore power consumption is significantly reduced.
Depending on the temperature level, up to 70% of the annual energy requirements may be saved. Thanks to the average ambient temperature of only 9°C, freecooling is one of the most efficient types of process cooling in Germany. The economic efficiency may be increased with adiabatic systems.
